Lauren and Cris are such a fun pair.
Between the two of them, they had me laughing so hard at times I could hardly look through my viewfinder.

They chose to shoot their engagement session in Lauren’s old backyard – the place she and Cris spent so much time early on in their relationship.
I always love when a couple chooses a location that’s played a role in their relationship or has meaning to them.
The sentiment is far more important than just a pretty location, but when it’s both meaningful to a couple AND gorgeous?  Be still my heart.

Lauren and Cris,  thank you for a great time!
I’m so looking forward to your Malibou Lake Mountain Club wedding in May!

I try my best to keep a heart of gratitude and be thankful for all I am blessed with; however,
I think we all have days where we lose sight of that for a minute, but I hope it’s never for too long.

So today I just wanted to express my heart and what I’m most thankful for.
family.

We’re missing a handful [or two] of people in that photo, but when there’s 15 people and two dogs in just your immediate family, it’s hard to get ’em all in 1 place.

The great MJ Fox said it best…

Jared’s family and my family are the biggest blessing to us and thankful is exactly how I feel on this rainy day.

Happy Thursday!

My love of intimate outdoor weddings is immeasurable.  Especially backyard weddings.  The atmosphere is unlike anything else.
Actually, I love backyard weddings so much I wanted that for my wedding; however, we didn’t know anyone with a backyard big enough for 200 guests.  So we rented one.

Moving along for the actual reason for the post…
Jenny and Abel’s backyard wedding was perfection.  Intimate and so very much the two of them.
Their wedding highlighted the most important things to them – the love they share for each other and their families.

That dress <3home <3A fun alternative to a first look.

these faces….seriously?!?!  so adorable.  even the pouty one!sweetest little flower girlsuch a fun crowd!

short story…I photographed that card early in the day assuming it was from Abel to Jenny.   Fast forward to the evening and I find out it was from one of the ring bearers!
It read, “To my Jenny, I love you.  Forget about Abel.  Marry me – Sammy.”
Seriously, the cutest thing!

Huge, huge thank you to my friend Bethany Belle for inviting me to second shoot Jenny and Abel’s wedding with her.
It was so fun and such an honor.  Thanks again, Bethany!

A while back I had the pleasure of second shooting with my friend Bethany Belle at Malibou Lake Mountain Club in Agoura Hills.
It was a gorgeous day to be outdoors and the grounds at Malibou Lake Mountain Club are absolutely breathtaking.

Seriously, there are so many gorgeous little pockets surrounding Malibou Lake Mountain Club!

a personal entry
//
for far too long i have struggled with perception.  my photography and what it’s “supposed” to look like.  who i am vs who i think i should be – personally, spiritually, artistically.

it’s been a long road and i truly believe i’m ever evolving but that’s what i love so much about this life.  growth.

i started journaling two years ago and there, in the pages of my super cute journals from Home Goods, i let myself unfurl.
I started on a self-discovery journey, and i have finally given myself permission to be curious, to evolve, to be me.
here’s a little bit of what i’ve learned about myself along the way.

i prefer books over t.v.  in fact, if it were up to me, we wouldn’t have a t.v. at all.
i like to write.
i want to choose love.  always.
Counting Crows and *Nsync are two of my favorite bands.
i want to like mushrooms but i hate them.
i don’t like wearing high heels.  i wish i did.
i like that i speak my mind.
i have chosen a style that is “safe” rather than what i really want.  | that’s going to change soon.
i love to learn.
i believe in Jesus, in His life and in His unconditional love.
i’m kind of a modern hippie.
i let fear control a huge portion of me and my life.  |  i’m working on changing that.
i have such a heart for animals.
i find beauty in history.
i love gold, glitter and hearts and i don’t care how cliche it is.
i want to photograph real life, real moments and people who love hard.  people who see the beauty in the moments…messy hair and all.
i’m a sucker for acoustic music.
i love nature. love.
i want to never forget to stop and smell the roses.
i don’t like roses.
//
Candice,
bask in this reel of your life.  imperfections and all.
there is beauty in imperfections, in reality, in struggles, in triumphs.
there is beauty in you.
